EDUCATION & RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
Since its inception, Shelly Beach Farms has served primarily as an educational and research facility at several levels. To date Shelly Beach Farms has hosted about 1,000 undergraduate students from the universities of Germany, The Netherlands, USA, India, Korea, Japan and New Zealand, all completing their practical experience for their undergraduate and Master's degrees.

Apprenticeships / internships, either residential or non-residential.
These may be in association with tertiary or other educational or research organizations but anyone from any background who has a strong desire to learn is welcome. No academic or previous training is required. There is no charge. Students live as part of the team and the training is based on practical experience and field work. There are no formal lectures or classes.
In addition, field days are held approximately every two months. These are for the general public such as small-block holders and local students from tertiary institutes.
